Kris Allen Debuts Single 'Live Like We're Dying'

Premiering his first single at a NY radio station, the 'American Idol' champ shares, 'You dream of this day, you dream of having a single out and having it on the radio, so this was a cool day.'

"Live Like We're Dying", the first single off Kris Allen's not-yet-titled debut album, has been released. Stopping by New York radio station Z100 on Monday morning, September 21, the "American Idol" season 8 champion debuted his cover version of The Script's 2008 song of the same name.

Dropping in the radio station to promote the single, the 24-year-old shares his excitement on hearing his song on the airwaves to radio DJ Elvis Duran and the Z100 morning-show team. "It was really cool. You dream of this day, you dream of having a single out and having it on the radio, so this was a cool day," he said.

He had admitted to MTV News that "Live Like We're Dying" has been eyed to be a single for his debut effort. "[The song] was actually one that we had listened to really early on, and we kind of just fell in love with it. Everyone did," he confessed. As for the album, he revealed, "We got a couple different producers on the album, but there's a couple songs that [Frampton and Kipner have produced]. And I'm actually going to London to work with them again."

Kris Allen will release his post-"Idol" album in U.S. on November 17. For the effort, he works with The Calling's vocalist, Alex Band, and will enter studio with Kevin Rudolf in October. He is also said to work with The Fray's guitarist Joe King and acclaimed producers Salaam Remi (Nas, Amy Winehouse) and Claude Kelly (Leona Lewis, Akon).
