It’s the time of year when most celebrities choose to set sail for sunnier climes.

But Jamie Oliver proved he is made of sterner stuff as he braved the freezing temperatures to take a walk in the snow with his family.

The 34-year-old TV chef and his wife Jools, 35, were pictured with their three children and another youngster in woodland near their country home in Saffron Walden, Essex.

The couple ensured that their daughters Poppy, seven, Daisy, six, and eight-month-old Petal were wrapped up against the cold in woolly hats, anoraks and Hunter wellies.

Oliver posted the photo on his Twitter blog yesterday, with the message: 'White Christmas with the family love to all jamie o xxx.'

No doubt the television star is enjoying taking some time out from his hectic schedule.

Last week it emerged The Village People have threatened legal action against Channel 4 over an advertisement for a recent Jamie Oliver series.

Lawyers for the Seventies band claim that the broadcaster abused trademark rights in the commercial for Jamie's American Road Trip, which aired this summer.

It saw the chef passing through an airport to Village People track Go West, dressed as the band's various characters, which include a policeman, a cowboy and a sailor.

The characters get caught out at different airport security points due to Jamie's culinary equipment.

One such scene, in which Oliver wears a pair of chaps, sees him strip-searched by customs that mistook sea salt for cocaine.

The Village People's legal team said that Channel 4 had used the Village People's image without permission, and that it was 'illegally and misleadingly portraying the Village People as engaging in hard drugs and public nudity'.

This week Simon Cowell, Kate Moss and Gary Lineker have all been seen enjoying their post-Christmas holidays in the Caribbean
