Elin Nordegren takes to the slopes in New Year bid to heal her heartbreak

Break: Elin Nordegren has escaped the publicity surrounding husband Tiger Woods' affairs by jetting off to Chamonix

Tiger Woods' wife Elin Nordegren spent New Year thousands of miles away from the love cheat golfer on the slopes of the French Alps.

The 29-year-old Swedish model was joined at the luxury resort of Chamonix by her sister Josephin and five friends, according to The Sun.

She is said to be staying at a £5,000-a-night chalet in the ski resort where she has gone to recuperate after lurid details emerged about her husband's numerous affairs.

According to the newspaper, the heartbroken mother-of-two booked an expensive restaurant on New Year's Eve and went out to party in what was described as a 'new start'.

Meanwhile, Tiger Woods is thought to have remained in America counting the cost after a number of lucrative sponsorship deals were pulled in the wake of the sex scandal.

Revelations of the world's No. 1 golfer's alleged extramarital affairs wiped between £3bn and 8bn off the market value of his main corporate sponsors, hitting millions of shareholders.

The series of shocking allegations surfaced after Woods was involved in a minor car accident outside his Florida home on November 27.

He confessed to ‘infidelity’ to his wife on December 11 and announced he would take an indefinite break from golf to save his marriage.

However, it is unclear whether Elin wants to make the marriage work after he was linked to 14 different women.

Elin, said to be a talented skier, has ventured out onto the slopes only once during her New Year break.

A family friend told The Sun: 'Elin wanted to take her close family and friends away from the minefield Tiger has created by his behaviour. She has been absolutely torn to pieces by what he has done.'

The friend also said Elin 'still sees a future with Tiger because of the beautiful children they have'.

The sex scandal could see the golfer's antics being made into a film.

Hollywood producers are keen to tell the story in a made-for-TV movie. Jerry Maguire star, Oscar-winning Cuba Gooding Jr, 41, is said to be one of those being lined-up to play the golfer.
