Madonna's former trainer Tracy Anderson hits out at singer for opening her own gym

Separate ways: Madonna and Tracy parted company in 2009 after three years

Madonna's former trainer Tracy Anderson has hit out at her decision to open her own fitness gym.

Anderson, 41, a personal trainer, is known for whipping actresses Gwyneth Paltrow, Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston in to shape.

She also used to train Madonna but she isn't impressed that she has opened her first Hard Candy Fitness gym in Mexico.

Speaking to Britain's Star magazine, Anderson said: 'I knew she was going to be doing it.

'I could put my name on a gym and put them all over the world if I wanted to, but that would be irresponsible to what I do.

'I think we all know when a celebrity is going to do something that is in an industry that they're not in, they're just doing an endorsement and that's fine.

'But I think that you wouldn't want to go to a man who plays a doctor on TV to get prescribed something, would you?'

Madonna parted ways with Anderson, who was credited with sculpting Madonna's age-defying body, in 2009 after three years.

The decision to split comes shortly after the executive director of Madonna's Raising Malawi charity handed in his notice after falling in love with Tracy.

A source told the New York Post at the time: 'Madonna had grown tired of the baggage that Tracy always seemed to be carrying with her. Tracy had grown to be more of a distraction than anything else.'

When Madonna was asked if she had 'dropped' Tracy, the singer laughed in response.

The superfit trainer denied she had been fired, insisting she wanted to spend more time with her 11-year-old son Sam.

Tracy was introduced to Madonna in 2006 by Gwyneth Paltrow, who had met in the trainer's Los Angeles studio.

Madonna soon became a convert of Tracy's two hour, six days a week workouts and creditted her with putting her body 'back together' after her riding accident in 2005.

Earlier this year, Madonna gushed: 'Tracy Anderson is my saviour. After two Caesareans, three hernia operations and one riding accident that left me with 10 broken bones, she was the only one who could pull my body back together into one piece.'
