'The Twilight Saga's Eclipse' Coming to IMAX Theaters

The third installment of the vampire drama film series is going to be remastered using the IMAX Digital Re-mastering system before it hits U.S. theaters in June next year.

"The Twilight Saga's Eclipse" is going to be the first of "Twilight" film series which gets an IMAX treatment. The IMAX Corporation and Summit Entertainment have just announced that they will join forces to digitally remaster the upcoming film using the IMAX DMR technology.

" 'Twilight' moviegoers will have a whole new way to experience this next installment of the series," Summit's president of domestic theatrical distribution Richie Fay stated. "['Eclipse' will feature] the enhanced image and sound quality of the IMAX Experience, putting them in the movie. The IMAX release puts us on the event film calendar for 2010, and we're very excited to work with IMAX to bring a new kind of film to the IMAX theater network."

"Eclipse" has been said to be the most action-packed novel in Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" saga. In fact, the actress of the third "Twilight" film franchise, Ashley Greene, previously claimed David Slade has directed the film to be "gorier and a little dark and kind of dramatic..." with a lot more focus on action.

"The Twilight Saga's Eclipse" will follow Bella Swan, who once again finds herself being surrounded by danger. Knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward Cullen and her friendship with Jacob Black.

The lead stars, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, will all return to reprise their roles as Edward, Bella, and Jacob respectively. The film is scheduled to be released both on IMAX screens and in traditional movie theaters across the U.S. on June 30, 2010.
