Review: Benefit Erase Paste + Swatches & Comparisons!

The consistency of Benefit Erase Paste is quite different than any other concealer I've tried. You would think it would be similar in texture to your average pot concealer (MAC Studio Finish, NYX Concealer in a jar, etc). But, actually, it's what the name says.. "paste". When you touch the concealer with your finger, instead of leaving a dent in the product, a small amount of product will stick to your finger. It's very thick, but it isn't at all dry like many cream or cake concealers. It is very creamy.

I find that it requires a little work to blend into the skin, and a little does not go a long way. Because the product is very dense and thick, it doesn't smooth across my under eyes as well as I thought it would. I found this product works the best when it is dotted under my eyes and then blending it with light tapping motions of the tip of my finger. The "window washer" sweeping technique isn't as effective, and I found myself having to go back for more product. The finish is a bit dewy and can settle in your fine lines if you don't set it with powder.

Because of the products milky pink color, it works extremely well at brightening the under eyes. I found that my eye area looks much more illuminated when wearing this. I do have to mention that I was a little disappointed with the coverage. When I swatched the product on my hand when I was at UTLA, I thought that it was going to provide full coverage because of the product density. Once this concealer is blended under the eyes, it sheers out quite a bit. The coverage is definitely buildable to a heavy medium, but because of it's texture, when it's built some may experience a problem with it "settling" or "caking". I didn't notice caking under my eyes, but I did notice it doesn't stay put well. I have to apply my foundation very carefully under my eyes after I've applied the Erase Paste or it will get swept away with the brush, and I'll end up having to apply more. I personally love using it in conjunction with another concealer. I've tried it under (as well as on top) of Hard Candy Glamoflauge and the end result is 100% coverage with a brightening effect.

Here are a couple of comparisons. I thought it would be similar to my Bobbi Brown Light Peach corrector, but Erase Paste is more pink toned. It would be a closer match to Bobbi Brown Bisque or Light Bisque corrector. Also swatched my MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW25. All shades are around the same depth, with NW25 being the deepest. Some medium skin tones may find that "Medium" to be a tad light.

I wanted to show you a before and after, but I was already wearing foundation and concealer. So bare in mind, my dark circles are already concealed well in my before. But I'd like to show you the "brightening" effect in the after photos.

Overall, I do like this concealer, but I don't think it's a must have for myself. I think it gives me a similar effect as YSL Touche Eclat #1 (Benefit has more coverage though). Luckily I nabbed a trial size through a swap. The retail price for the full size (0.15 oz) is $26. I do find that price to be a little steep, but you can nab a trial size (0.11 oz) along with an eye primer and cream shadow for $10 in the "Stay Put Set" from Sephora (view here). When using this concealer, I do recommend using a concealer brush or "tapping" the concealer on with your finger tip to avoid tugging your skin. Because it doesn't spread very easily, it would be a good idea to moisturize beforehand. The main complaint among reviewers is that they find this concealer creases, so it may be a better concealer for those with minimal fine lines.

Review: Looking for Full Coverage at a Low Cost? Camouflage your Dark Circles with Hard Candy's Glamoflauge Concealer.

Catchy title, aye? I discovered this concealer at Wal-mart not too long ago when I was browsing the new products Hard Candy has to offer. When I spotted Glamoflauge, it automatically rang a bell as a product I've heard of before (unless I was thinking of Benefit Powderflage.. haha). So quickly, I went on my phone and checked the reviews on makeupalley for this product. I skimmed through the first few reviews, which were very promising, as was the 4/5 overall rating. I fumbled through the rack to find my shade, only to find one left in the shade medium, which happened to be an opened box covered with concealer fingerprints. Despite the dirty box, from whoever swatched it, I decided to purchase it.

It's quite unfortunate that this concealer only comes in three (3) shades, which is probably the only non positive thing I can say about this concealer. There is light, medium and tan. I chose medium, which happens to be a medium beige with yellow/olive undertones. In fact, the olive undertone is quite strong and can appear green on certain skintones. I have used it on myself as well as my best friend. She is middle eastern, with light/medium olive skin and it matched her perfectly, and she would be able to wear it alone. I on the other hand, would not be able to wear this alone, as the green looks more obvious on my skintone.

As for the product itself, I can honestly say it's the best FULL coverage (drugstore) concealer I have tried. It covers any blemishes, scars on my face with no effort and covers my under eye darkness completely. The consistency is a creamy liquid that isn't too dry and isn't too liquidy. It's thicker than MAC Select Cover Up & somewhat comparable to Mary Kaye or MUFE Full Coverage Concealer. Because the coverage is quite heavy, I would recommend moisturizing your under eyes well prior to applying this concealer so it won't accentuate your dryness & look very thick. Some of you may find this concealer too heavy for your needs, and some of you may find it perfect for your needs. If you find it too heavy for your under eyes, like I mentioned, it's excellent at covering blemishes. It's said to cover tattoos, and I wouldn't at all doubt it. I applied a little dab over one of my brown birthmarks, and it covered it completely.

The small pencil concealer is a cute little extra. It may not offer as much coverage as the liquid concealer, but it's useful for defining the eyebrows or lips. 

Overall, I really like this concealer and will continue using it for blemishes and under eyes. Again, my only complaint is the color selection and the undertone of the shade medium. I have to make sure to adequately apply my foundation over the concealer to cover up the green cast it gives me. Or, mix it with another concealer of mine. Other than that, I love it. I'll most likely be picking this up in the shade light as well.

I purchased Dermablend's Quick-Fix Concealer in the shade Beige. It is a great color for light to medium skin tones. It is yellow-peachy in color, and works great for concealing purple tones under the eyes.

What really tempted me to try this product was, I've been seeing so many raves lately for the Vichy Dermablend Concealer (which I hear now is being discontinued?) and I can't find anywhere. Many have told me that I can purchase Vichy Dermablend from CVS - and I went to about 10 different CVS locations and none of them carried it. So, I went on the computer and started doing some research about Dermablend. Someone mentioned that the regular Dermablend concealer is the same product as the Vichy Dermablend Concealer. Even though they weren't a reliable source - I decided to check out ULTA, which carries Dermablend and swatch some of the testers. Dermablend has three different concealers. A redness concealer (Smooth Indulgence Redness Concealer), a liquid medium coverage concealer (Smooth Indulgence SPF 20 Concealer) and the full coverage cream concealer (Quick-Fix Concealer). I had every intention of purchasing the Smooth Indulgence liquid concealer because I prefer liquid concealers over creams, but the claims of the Quick-Fix concealer lured me in.

My Review: This concealer claims to be full coverage and states that it will cover under eye darkness, blemishes, scars, etc. So I expected this to be a really heavy duty concealer that will completely cover my occasional breakouts. The directions for use are to apply this directly to the undereye area from the tube and blend with your fingers - or use your finger to wipe a little product from the tube and apply it to your undereye area. From reviews I have read, some mentioned not to apply this directly under your eyes because it is heavy and will look cakey. I did not find that at all to be true for me. I like applying it directly from the tube and taking a flat foundation brush to lightly blend it in. No heaviness, no caking. The consistency is your average stick concealer. It applies creamy, but it also has the concentrated - sort of dry texture that many stick concealers have. I found it to be very similar to my favorite Palladio Stick Concealer. I didn't find it to look thick under my eyes, nor did it emphasize any lines. I always make sure to moisturize my undereye area prior to using this so it will glide on better and have a better end result. It is necessary to set with a powder, as cream concealers tend to move around and will settle a bit in fine lines. After I set my undereyes with powder, I had no caking throughout the day and no settling. It pretty much stayed put all day. The coverage - I would consider it to be full, but it wasn't as "full" as I expected it to be. With a thick layer, it covered probably 85% of my darkness - but once I applied my foundation you could barely notice them. I am happy with the results for my undereyes and I'll continue using this. But, for blemishes - this is terrible. I have a few minor red scars from a recent breakout and this didn't cover them. It covered them probably 50% - and the redness still peeked through. I am extremely disappointed with this products performance for that considering it's the main reason I purchased it. This is no way going to cover anything remotely severe on your face unless you apply it to your face directly from the tube and don't blend it. Nevertheless, I really like it for my undereyes and the tube makes applying it very handy.

The 1st photo shows my undereyes before. They don't look severe at all - but the sunlight I took the photo in really distorted any darkness. They are much more purple/red in person. The 2nd set of photos show how the product looks applied directly from the tube. The 3rd photo shows me smoothing it out with a foundation brush (I was using Ecotools Foundation Brush) and the last photo shows my undereyes after. They pretty much are fully concealed. Only when I turn my head in certain angles can you see the slightest darkness peak through my hollows.

Color Choices

You may of remembered from my latest http://www.camerareadycomsetics.com (no affiliation) haul, I purchased a sample of Keromask concealer on complete impulse because I had to spend one more dollar to qualify for free shipping.

The sample costs $3.99 and is shipped in a small plastic screw top jar. The purpose of purchasing a sample is to accurately test the color on your skin tone before purchasing a full size product. It is supposed to be enough product for a few uses. I had my fingers crossed that the sample was going to be a little more generous - but they only provided a small dab.. Luckily, with this concealer a little goes a long way - So I've been able to test the product out for days.

It was a little difficult finding swatches or many reviews for Keromask, so I chose the shade "light", which is described to fit "normal" skin tones and is most likely the most popular color. I could of probably used medium as well if I wanted to match my skin tone.. but I prefer my concealer to be a little bit lighter (not much) to give my face more dimension.

The color looked slightly dark and pink in the jar, and I didn't think it was going to work out good.. BUT, I was surprised to see that once I swatched it, it appeared much lighter and less pink.

It actually has that salmon/peachy coloring that works so well for masking under eye darkness.

I apologize that my before and after photos aren't that great. My under eye darkness is much more visible in person than it is in my before photo. I have a reddish purple under my eyes and its a darker blue purple in the corners. You can visibly see in the after photo that it has completely covered any darkness/redness and evened out my skin tone. It has also brightened the area. It is very visible that the finish is slightly dewy.

Review: Let me start out by saying that this concealer is amazing for full coverage. Like I said, I purchased a sample on a complete whim.. I've never heard of it and didn't research it. When I first swatched the concealer, my eyes literally lit up because I didn't expect it to be so creamy and so pigmented. I'm not going to say "typically".. but often times "full coverage" concealers tend to be dry in texture and don't "smooth" that easily on your skin. Often times it's required to moisturize your under eyes first. This concealer is so different. The texture is so buttery smooth.. The closest comparison in consistency is the Bobbi Brown Corrector.. the finish is actually like the Corrector as well.. but it covers more. The first few days wearing this I would moisturize under my eyes and then apply it with my MAC 224 brush. It provided a complete full coverage without looking heavy or thick. One day I just put a little under my eyes and on a couple of blemishes and went to run a few errands and because of the creamy consistency, it settled in my fine lines & was slightly "wet" looking? This didn't happen on days where I wore foundation & powder. With most of my concealers.. I need to "build" the coverage.. so naturally, I was applying more product than I needed. The past couple of days I've been using my finger to apply it.. and it has been working fantastic, as I'm not applying as much. I haven't noticed any creasing. It claims to be waterproof and from what I've noticed.. it lasts all day on me without fading. It brightens under my eyes and covers blemishes 100%!! I am so amazed with this concealer and I believe that this is HG material and everything I've been looking for in a concealer. 

If you're looking for a moisturizing, full coverage concealer and you feel you've tried everything.. I highly recommend you to give it a try!

The only downside for me is that it's very expensive. It's $42.. but it's said to last for over a year because of the high pigmentation.

Review: Coastal Scents Camo Quad - Medium + Before/After Photos & Swatches!

Hey Guys! I have another Coastal Scents review for you guys. It's for their Camo Quad Concealer in the shade Medium. They have four different Camo Quads in the shades Light, Medium, Dark and Color Corrector. You can view all shades here.

Before ordering this quad, I made sure to look up swatches and read some reviews. I also watched a review video by one of my favorite youtubers, Lisaz09. You can click her username and it will take you directly to her review video. Anyway, the majority of the reviews seemed very positive so I thought I would give it a try.


Medium - Contains for shades. They don't have specific shade names or numbers. There is a White, Light Peach, Med. Beige and a Dark Pink Beige. Prior to receiving this quad in the mail I thought these colors were going to be more yellow toned because of all of the swatches I have seen. I would say they kind of look more like NW shades than NC shades. The Med. Beige shade looks a little bit like my NW25 concealer.. but less orangy. Which is absolutely fine because peachy & pinky shades seem to camouflage dark circles very well. Then, once my yellow toned foundation is applied over.. they should be completely covered. 

I would say that my camera captured the color very accurately in both the quad by itself and the swatches (it may depend on your computer, because not every computer will obviously capture color the same way).

This was a small test I did on my wrist to see the amount of pigmentation in the concealer. I just used my finger and dabbed it on my wrist and my vein was almost completely camouflaged. The only way I could barely see it, is if I would move my wrist back and forth in the light. I would say it was covered a good 90-95%.

My Review: For me, I would say the coverage of this concealer is a full medium coverage. I wouldn't necessarily call it a full coverage. Only because it is not 100% opaque. Depending on the color and severity of your dark circles, this may be full coverage for you. The consistency is a little dry - many have said it's hard to blend and it is difficult to get the product out. It's not exactly like MAC Studio Finish, nor is it exactly like NARS (dry textured, velvety texture).. It's somewhat in between the two. Some have suggested plugging in a blow drier on low heat and blowing it directly on the quad for a few seconds. I wouldn't exactly say its difficult to get a good amount of product on my finger, but because it is not a very soft creamy.. it may take a few swipes of your finger. I found that using your finger to rub the shade slowly around in a circle will warm it up and make it much easier to get more product. Also, it was much easier to pick up product using a concealer brush (I used my MAC 194 brush). The texture seemed much creamier when I used the brush. I think once you get past the top layer of freshness (or whatever you may call it) the texture will be better. I always moisturize under my eyes prior to application of creme concealers to make sure it won't cake or look ashy. For lighter coverage, I will pat the shade I'd like to use and gently rub it under my eyes back and forth until it's blended. For a more full coverage, I have used my concealer brush and dabbed it on the area and finished off blending it with my fingertip by gently patting the area & I have also used only my finger by rubbing the product to warm up on my finger so more product will adhere to my finger and again, pat it under my eyes until it is blended and repeat if necessary. I like to use the Med. Beige shade and then use the Light Peach a little bit over it. Sometimes, I like to mix both together. I have used the darkest shade to contour the hollows of my cheeks and it worked pretty well.. and I have used the white to highlight the highest point of my cheekbone (all prior to the application of my foundation of course).

Here's a quick look at my under eyes with the concealer and without. I had used my method of patting the concealer under my eyes and repeating for a fuller coverage.

I'll have an update.. maybe in a week or so to let you know how well I'm liking it.

Review: Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer!

 My Review:  This is the first "mousse" product I've ever tried and didn't really know what to expect. The consistency is very light and airy and has a silicone-like feel to it. It's super soft and blends with no effort needed. I've tried applying this with my fingers or with a concealer brush and I didn't like either application method. The only way I like applying this is with my Sigma 224 or MAC 224 brush. I just dab the brush in and swirl it around my under eyes and build it to the desired coverage. This has a light - buildable to medium coverage. It's definitely not full - or full enough for what I prefer. I like using this on blemishes.. it covers them pretty well. I like to use my fingers for that and pat some product on it. Definitely can build it to a pretty heavy medium coverage on blemishes and it covers redness very good. The only thing I don't really like about this is the matte finish it gives. I've never used a matte concealer.. and this just makes my under eyes look dull. I don't think this is something I would repurchase once I run out.

Review: NARS Duo Concealer (Custard/Ginger)

I got this goody in a swap a couple of months ago. I took these pictures within the first week of receiving the product and I never got around to doing a post on it. It is the NARS Duo Concealer in the shade Custard/Ginger.

The lighter shade (left) is Custard and the darker shade is Ginger (right). It is the perfect duo for my MAC NC40 skin tone. I do believe it would work well for NC37 and possibly NC35. Custard would definately work well for NC35, but Ginger may be a little dark. Ginger would probably work well on NC42 as well.

The texture is very strange to me for a concealer. It has the finishing consistency of Smashbox Photo Finish Primer/Monistat Chafing Gel/Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant Perfecter. It's a little dry and has a satiny/velvety.. almost powdery feel? By looking at it, it looks like any normal cream/cake concealer.. but it's not at all. I prefer applying this concealer in particular with my finger. It blends beautifully.. it almost dissolves in my skin. It doesn't give the obvious look of a heavy concealer. It's extremely light weight and provides a beautiful medium+ coverage. It covered 100% of my dark circles. My under-eye circles have a purple tint, and these concealers both have a yellow tone to them. The yellow cancels out the purple very well. I would first moisturize under my eyes (which is very necessary because of the dry texture. It may dry out your under eyes if you don't moisturize) and apply the lighter shade and once I applied my foundation, I would go back and apply the darker shade and it would blend in perfectly with my foundation color. What I found is, you really don't need to use much to cover well. I was using way too much for the first few weeks of using this. Its very easy to use a lot because it's so incredibly light and because of the way it disappears into the skin.. it doesn't look like much is applied. Well anyway, within a month of use.. I hit the pan. And now I stopped using it every day and I've only been using it sparingly. Other than it running out so easily, I don't have any other complaints. I do set this with a powder and I didn't notice any creasing. I noticed when my makeup would start to shine I would get slight creasing.. but no biggie. A quick swipe of a powder puff would get rid of it. $30 is quite a bit to shovel out for a concealer, but I would repurchase this at some point.

I think this stuff is great. I've been using it mostly to set my concealer and add extra coverage. You can also wear it as an eyeshadow (since it is an eyeshadow anyway) or a natural highlight!

Overall, I'm very happy with this product. Since my under eyes are always so dark, this REALLY helps me. I purchased it on ebay for around $10.

I originally heard about this from Jacqueline. Her under eyes always look SO bright and concealed and it's because of this product. This is what it looks like on her under eyes.

I originally purchased the shade Peach, which pretty much matched my skin perfectly. My only concern though was, I like my concealer to be lighter than my face so my under-eyes look brighter. Peach was like the same color depth as my face. I would compare it to MAC NW30 Studio Finish Concealer (in depth only). Also, we all know that I self tan daily, SO, it matches me when I'm tan. But, If my face isn't tan, then I'll be applying a concealer under my eyes that is darker than my skin tone. Luckily, I bought a defective one and the pan kept falling out. So the following day I exchanged it for Light Peach.

This is a really good shade for me. I would compare it to MAC NW25 (which is the shade I use for MAC concealers).. it could be slightly lighter. VERY slightly. I apply a little with my MAC 224 and buff it in my under eyes, or apply it with my fingers and blend. The texture is extremely soft, creamy and non greasy. (Which was actually a surprise to me, because I thought it was going to be heavy and thick feeling) Once applied to the skin, it doesn't look heavy. It looks like a light liquid concealer on the skin. I find that the less you apply, the better. Considering this is only your corrector, you only need the tiniest bit to correct the color under your eyes, and leave it all to your concealer to do the work of concealing. I've been using this with my MAC Select Cover Up in NW25. At first, I was applying too much and it was caking, then I realized that I didn't need much. It really does add extra coverage to my concealer. If you have very minor dark circles, this may possibly cover them completely, along with your foundation.

REVIEW: This is an item I've been wanting to try for the longest time. While I was waiting in line to check out, the rack with miscellaneous travel items caught my eye. I immediately picked up the touche eclat and swatched it on my hand. The only shade available at that Sephora location was shade #1 (Radiant Touch) I did a little thinking.. I remember researching this before and I talked to a few people with the same coloring as me and majority used 2 or 3. I did notice that the color was RADIANT so I figured maybe its a universal color. It was a complete impulse buy. $40 for a .1 oz tube!? That's quite a lot. I don't even like spending that much on a foundation lol. I quickly tried it out when I got home.. and was not disappointed. It has a very creamy, milky consistency. It is light peach with a pink pearl to it. The brush is actually very soft.. and isn't exactly useless like most brushes that are attached to makeup items are. I use 1-2 clicks and dot it under my eyes after I already applied concealer and foundation.. then I either smooth it out with a really soft synthetic fiber brush or I pat it lightly with my ring finger (your ring finger has the least strength and will apply the least pressure) until its blended. I also like to run it down the bridge of my nose and under the arch of my brows to highlight. Some people argue this is not a concealer.. but it does conceal a bit. I applied it on some blemishes and around my nose where its a little pink and it concealed it. Its more of a highlighter. In contrast to Benefit High Beam which is also a pearly pink highlighter, benefit only highlights, it doesn't conceal.. and its also a lot more luminescent than the Touche Eclat. Touch Eclat is a lot more natural. It really does make me look more awake and it does an awesome job brightening so no darkness shows through. I was looking at a tutorial on the YSL site which was very helpful. You can also apply this around your lips to make them more defined. Scroll up for the YSL website link, it will take you directly to the page to watch the demo video. Overall, great product. I'd love to try shades 2 and 3 as well.

MUFE Lift Concealer vs. Lancome Effacernes

This is basically a review for MUFE Lift Concealer since I already reviewed Lancome Effacernes in a previous post. You can read that post here.

MUFE Lift Concealer is a lovely liquid concealer. It has buildable medium coverage.. and you can build it to a pretty full coverage. If you don't need a heavy coverage you can definitely use a sponge applicator and apply a thin layer. It's not cakey at all. My perfect color match is #3. I think it compares almost exactly to Lancome Effacernes because it has a brightening effect and almost the same consistency. Its seems to lighten up my under eyes like Effacernes does.. and the consistency is very dewy and and creamy. It has a peach hue to it so it conceals purple tones under my eyes very well. I like to apply it with a concealer brush for a fuller coverage or a flat foundation brush. It does not crease or leave my under eyes dry and it is super blendable. It is .5 oz for $22, while Lancome Effacernes is $27.50 for .52 oz.

So which do I like better? It's seriously a tie. I can't choose. But lately I have been using MUFE Lift a lot more. These are both the best liquid concealers I've ever used. So if you've been curious about this product, I highly recommend you to try it out!

My review of Lancome Effacernes is for the shade Beige III (Neutral) and it worked really, really good. I ended up purchasing Light Bisque which I thought was a better color choice.. but it ended up not covering as good. :( I need to go back and buy Neutral.
