Katy Perry reunited with husband Russell Brand...but doesn't look too happy about it after sex and gardening joke

He confessed earlier this week that it wasn't always easy being married to her - but Russell Brand was still very much the protective husband when Katy Perry jetted into Los Angeles for a reunion last night.

The pair's work commitments often keep them apart, with pop singer Katy currently on the European leg of her California Dreams tour and Russell promoting soon-to-be-released new movie Arthur - but they were clearly happy to be back in each other's arms as Russell collected his wife at the city's LAX airport.

However, Katy seemed somewhat glum despite their reunion - perhaps unhappy about her husband's recent quip that he'd swapped sex for gardening since they got married.

Wearing a grey bouclé coat, black leggings and jewelled Ugg-style boots, 26-year-old Katy clasped her husband's arm and hid behind his back after a red-eye flight from the UK after playing Manchester on Tuesday night.

Perry started her 104-date tour in Portugal on February 20 and was last reunited with her husband at the start of the month.

But she now has a few days off before resuming the UK and Ireland leg of her tour at the Dublin O2 Arena on March 28.

Russell is clearly proud of his wife's achievements and Tweeter: Russell also joked of his wife on his official Twitter page: 'I hear @katyperry rocked Manchester- she's the new Noel Gallagher. I'll have to watch her eyebrows don't join up.'

But talking earlier this week, Russell, 35, the comedian admitted it was 'difficult' getting used to living with Perry after his previous incarnation as a legendary lothario.

In a preview from Piers Morgan's Life Stories show, the comedian said: ‘I can’t believe I used to have sex 20 times a week, especially now I’m married. But now I’m a bloody good gardener.’

However, the funnyman said his sex life with Katy was still healthy - when they saw each other.

He said: ‘Yeah children, that’d be good, wouldn’t it?’

He added: ‘We haven’t been married for very long, we’re both working very hard and I’m still excited and enchanted by her but when we do I’m going to focus on it.’
