It's one of the most highly-anticipated showbiz events of the year, when eyes aren't just on the prizes won but also the outfits worn.But if there was a prize for the worst outfit choice at the National Movie Awards it would probably have gone to Katie Holmes, who chose an unflattering striped maxi dress for the event at London's Royal Festival Hall.
Accompanied by husband Tom Cruise, who looked dapper in a black suit, Katie, 31, walked confidently down the red carpet - apparently unaware of her fashion faux pas.

Holmes wasn't the only star to have made a bold outfit choice at the event.
Just hours after she debuted a hair-raising new style at a Louis Vuitton store launch, Gwyneth Paltrow arrived at the awards in an unusual hot pink dress, reminiscent in its style of the Sixties era.
And the actress appeared fond of her new hair, backcombing her locks into another unusual up-do.

Many of the stars at the event had jetted across from the U.S., with Chris Rock joking: 'This is almost as big as the Oscars!'
The winners at the event are chosen by viewers' votes, and the first prize of the night went to
Sherlock Holmes, which was crowned favourite action/thriller.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon took the award for best fantasy film, beating off stiff competition from Alice In Wonderland, Avatar and Clash Of The Titans.
The film, nominated for five prizes at the ITV1 awards, was a popular choice and there were screams from the delighted audience when its name was called out.

He said the film was for all the women who were pleased to find out there was 'a good explanation' when their husbands disappeared for weeks at a time and came home without their clothes.

Radcliffe, who apologised for the absence of his co-star Rupert Grint due to sickness, said: 'It's fantastic for us, six films in with two more to go, to still be getting this kind of recognition.'
Watson added: 'This is such an incredible honour. It's so wonderful that you still love these films. We still love making them.'
Kylie Minogue presented a special recognition award to the Harry Potter series of films.
Producer David Heyman, who obtained the rights to JK Rowling's books, said making the movies was a team effort, with more than 2,000 people involved in each one.
'On behalf of the Harry Potter family I'd like to thank Jo Rowling for giving us the books. Without her we wouldn't be here,' he added.
