Sarah Jessica Parker bonds with baby Marion... but isn't she getting too big for that sling?

Doting mother: Sarah Jessica Parker carries her daughter Marion Loretta in the West Village neighbourhood in Manhattan yesterday

For two months of her twins' early childhood, Sarah Jessica Parker was away, filming the new Sex And The City movie.

So little wonder if she is determined to bond as much as possible with Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell, known as Babe and Kitty.

The smiling actress carried bright-eyed Marion in a sling as she walked James Wilkie to school in New York yesterday morning.

And if the ten-month-old was debatably too big for the sling, it was obvious Sarah Jessica couldn't care less.

She seemed delighted by her daughter, laughing and stroking her head of dark hair as they walked in New York.

Meanwhile Marion, who turns one in June, turned her head with interest as she watched the passers by.

Sarah Jessica, 45, is currently enjoying being a part-time stay at home mother, as she gears up for the whirlwind of publicity ahead of the release of Sex And The City 2.

But when her daughters were just three months old she spent two months in Morocco on set.

Much loved: Marion, known as Kitty to her family, was born by surrogacy

With the babies too young to fly, she resorted to watching them via Skype.

'It's the eternal conflict of every working woman,' she say. 'And I'm not complaining because I've done this to myself. The great challenge for me is to be all things to all people.'

Marion and her sister were born to a surrogate mother, after Sarah Jessica failed to conceive second time round.

'[We] tried and tried and tried to get pregnant,' she told U.S. Vogue last week. 'But it was just not to be. I would give birth... if I could.'

She said that the facts of their birth didn't affect how she felt about her twins.

'Meeting your children rather than giving birth to them, it's as if... everything else disappears for a moment, and the world goes silent,' she said.

'I don't remember anything but the blanket on the bed they were lying on and my husband's face and their faces and my sons.'
