The couple went for a Valentine's Day lunch with their two-year-old son Bronx today at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Dressed casually in a baggy sweatshirt, leggings and boots, Ashlee, 26, looked low key as she walked her son into the hotel.
Both wearing sunglasses, the couple kept their heads down and seemed keen not to be noticed.
Ashlee filed for divorce from Pete, a bassist with the band Fall Out Boy on February 10, citing 'irreconcilable differences'.
TMZ reported that Ashlee is seeking joint legal custody and primary physical custody of their toddler. She has requested that Pete be granted visitation rights.
She is asking for spousal and child support too, according to the report. The couple reportedly did not sign a prenuptial agreement.
In a statement to Mail Online last week, the couple said: 'After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce'.

They seemed to stay true to their word, as they were spotted at Starbucks with Bronx, just a day before announcing the separation.
The court papers were signed last Monday by Simpson-Wentz who took her husband's last name but she is now seeking to go back to her maiden name.
Ashlee and Pete began dating in late 2006, announcing their engagement in April 2008.
They were married by Ashlee's father Joe Simpson a month later. Their son Bronx was born that November.
Remaining friends: The couple were seen taking a trip to Starbucks just a day before announcing the splitHer sister Jessica served as maid of honour. Wentz's English bulldog, Hemingway, was the ring bearer.
Ashlee has also listed some items she wishes to be deemed as 'separate property' in her split from Wentz.
These include her 'earnings and accumulations' after their date of separation and 'miscellaneous jewellery and other personal effects'.
Meanwhile, actress Jennifer Love Hewitt was enjoying Valentine's Day in New York with boyfriend Alex Beh.
The star arrived at her hotel in the Big Apple showing off a red heart shaped balloon.
