Emotional: Lady Gaga is overcome while judging an episode of So You Think You Can Dance

This is the moment Lady Gaga broke down in tears as she watched contestants on US TV show, So You Think You Can Dance.

The Poker Face star appeared as a guest judge on the Fox network show. And she was overwhelmed by emotion when she watched Marko and Allison's routine, set to the Jeff Buckley song, I Know It's Over.

It led Gaga to admit she regrets some things she did while growing up, and she began to cry.

Film director Rob Marshall was also on the judging panel, while Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi, were in the audience.

Gaga also praised the diminutive Jordan, who she told to have and added: 'It’s no secret that I’m quite short.

Gaga then lifted her leg on to the table, showing off her 12-inch platform heels.

She joked that they were a 'fashion catheter' so she doesn’t have to get up and go to the bathroom during the show.

The singer tweeted before the show: 'At So You Think You Can Dance getting ready. I'm so excited! Tune in live tonight, I'm so excited! Everyone here is so darling!'

Yesterday Gaga took a break from her promotional tour to enjoy a night off at the Chateau Marmont in west Hollywood.

She left the famous hotel dressed in a demure white silk pantsuit with friends.

Earlier in the day the singer joined the world in paying tribute to Amy Winehouse.

The 25-year-old Judas singer said: ‘It's a lesson to the world. Don't kill the superstar, take care of her soul.’

Gaga also said she loved Amy ‘so much’ and revealed that she used to get mistaken for the soul singer before she became famous.

Speaking about Amy, who died on Saturday, Lady Gaga said: ‘I was nobody when she was first coming out. I would be on the street and people would go "Amy"'.

‘I just remember feeling like I wasn't alone because she was so different.’

The Born This Way singer made the comments during an interview on U.S. radio show, Omaha 94.1 Radio yesterday.

She also paid tribute to the singer on her Twitter page and posted: ‘Amy changed pop music forever, I remember knowing there was hope, and feeling not alone because of her. She lived jazz, she lived the blues.’
