Feeling better Cheryl Cole? The X Factor judge looks radiant as she steps out for dinner date with Derek Hough in L.A.

Recovering: Cheryl looked in good health - if still a little bit fragile - stepping out in Los Angeles


She has spent the past month recuperating after falling seriously ill with malaria but last night Cheryl Cole appeared to have fully regained her health.

Stepping out for dinner with close friend Derek Hough, the 27-year-old was radiant in a demure navy blue dress and gladiator-style sandals.

Keeping her head down to avoid eye contact with the ever-present paparazzi, the X Factor judge is clearly still quite fragile but she appears to be getting back to her usual self.

The pop star and dancer Hough dined at Michelin starred restaurant Wolfgang Puck in Los Angeles where Cole has escaped to until she resumes her duties on the ITV talent contest.

However, according to one report the Girls Aloud member is not intending to return to the UK permanently.

According to one report, Cole has told Simon Cowell she wants to film the judges' houses section of The X Factor in LA and is keen to stay close to friend Hough.

A source told the News of the World: 'Cheryl has been having an absolute blast in LA. She and Derek are getting on really well and she's feeling like a completely new woman.

'She has been beaming and everyone has noticed it. She's confident and bubbly and hasn't been down at all, even though her divorce is so close to being finalised.'

The star is also hoping Hough, 25, will help her win The X factor for a third year.

A choreographer and high-profile dancer on popular US television programme Dancing With Stars, Cole believes he will be able to ensure her finalists can sing and dance.

A friend explained to Daily Star Sunday: 'Cheryl thinks that having dancer and choreographer Derek on board will boost her chances of winning.'

They added: 'She can help with their singing and he can teach them some moves.'
